Sometimes all you need to complete your tiring week is a nice change of ambiance and some milk tea on the side. Who would have thought that there would be a small paradise in the busy bustling streets of China town.

Located at the lobby of Mandarin Square Palace stands this small haven called The Tea. I once stumbled upon this store while loitering around the streets of Binondo with my sister and ahyia Gilbert. Since then, I can't help but come back to this place every once in a while to unwind. It's funny how this paradise stood awkwardly beside fashion boutiques yet fells just right to be situated in the heart of china town.
My sisters and I decided to drop by this store again after visiting our optometrist since we were already in Binondo. I forced them to come and seat with me and talk food just because its the perfect place to. The store has medium space and can house pretty much up to 20 people. Just your typical milk tea store, only a hundred time better with interior and food quality.
How can I not pay attention to the interior of this shop? It looked so foreign and beautifully thought of that it seemed like this was a set taken from coffee shops in Taiwan or Japan. Lined with white chairs and green stuffed toys, this place just makes you feel at home with its cozy ambiance. The combination of white and green walls plus the wooden floor boards is just comfortable and welcoming. Its nice how inviting this place is specially to the kids that's why you'll often spot pre-schoolers with their mommies buying treats here.
I think that the main concept behind The Tea's interior design is garden. Frogs and baby potted plants can be spotted almost everywhere. Look! There's even one kero hanging on the lamp. How cute is that? This place is just so adorable that's why it's jam packed every after school and on weekends. According to the staff they are open everyday from 9:00 am to 10:30 pm.
And..any typical store here in china town has this good fortune cat. Once I was able to meet the owner of the store. She told us that the tea that they are using are all imported from Taiwan. And just to share a quick fact, Taiwan is one of those countries who exports the most delicious teas here in Asia. The milk tea industry here in the Philippines are mostly franchised and originated from milk tea chains in Taiwan. Some of which are Chatime, Gong Cha and Dakasi.
The Tea offers a wide variety of brewed tea and ice cream and is significantly famous for their Matcha ice cream. They also offer vanilla ice cream on days when Matcha is not available. One of my all time favorites is their Fruit + Pudding + Ice cream. On days when I visit here and I want to eat something filling I just go over Formosa bakery which is adjacent to the store and buy pastries to go with my milk tea.
Their house brewed teas are the best I've ever tasted. It's not too sweet and is jam packed with flavor. Also they carry unique flavors that most mall based stores doesn't have. I bet that this is a healthier alternative having lesser sugar content and more of the actual tea in your cup. Another fact that I absolutely love is that you can ask the staff for additional add ons (pearl, pudding, etc.) without paying another 5 or 10 pesos. Their price range is reasonable and you get much more than what you pay for. Never once have I felt cheated for what I payed for.
This is me when my sisters and I came for tea. I still forced them to come with me despite having a bad flu. Oh well, the girl needs her tea so they can't do anything about it ☺
This is our typical bonding sessions. A day full of pranks and photo sessions. See why I love this store? It brings people closer to each other.
We decided to pass some time on the store because it started raining hard and we forgot our umbrella so we played a snap shot game.
I'm in Puss in boots cat eyes pose.
Achie was doing the famous May bukas pa pose and Shobe was doing the infamous pacute peace tayo pose.
One thing that I absolutely love about them is their delivery service. I haven't tried it yet but knowing that they deliver means that I can enjoy my favorite tea anytime.
Their price range is very reasonable. From 70 to 125 pesos you can already enjoy their in house goodies. This is the perfect place visit to get a perfect Saturday chill time.
So what's your favorite milk tea shop?
